Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about the transition to v4
Do I have to upgrade to v4?
No. V3 continues to work and will remain supported. You can also offer v3 capacity on the v4 marketplace once available. Upgrade when you are ready.
When can I install v4?
Mycelium OS v4 is in development. We are targeting Q1 2026 for initial testing access. Pre-register to be notified when it becomes available.
Is the upgrade automatic?
No. When v4 is available, you will need to manually download and install Mycelium OS on your hardware.
Will my existing hardware work with v4?
If your hardware meets the minimum requirements (16 cores, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD), it will work with v4. Check the Hardware Requirements page for full details.
Should I convert my TFT to SPORE?
That decision depends on your situation. The bridge is currently in development and will be available soon. When it launches, the 10:1 conversion rate will be available until June 30, 2026. Conversion is one-way and cannot be reversed. Consider your own circumstances before converting.
When will the TFT to SPORE bridge be available?
The bridge is in development. We will announce when it becomes available. You can pre-register to be notified.
What happens to TFT after June 2026?
TFT continues to exist as a separate token. The preferential 10:1 conversion rate ends June 30, 2026. TFT may maintain value on exchanges independently.
When can I sell SPORE?
SPORE cannot be sold through the protocol until after July 1, 2026, when the Dutch auction mechanism activates. Until then, you can hold SPORE or use it within the ecosystem.
What is AUR?
AUR is an internal utility token pegged to 1/1000 gram of gold, used for stable service pricing. It operates in the background and is not traded on external exchanges. Users see local currency pricing while AUR handles the stable internal accounting.
How much will I earn in v4?
Earnings depend on several factors: your hardware specifications, slice pricing, utilization rate, and market demand. Use our ROI Calculator for estimates, but understand these are projections, not guarantees.
What if nobody rents my capacity?
Bid tiers provide a baseline income floor. Mycelium commits to purchasing capacity at minimum rates. However, this is a floor, not guaranteed profit after expenses.
Can I use my own capacity for free?
Yes. In v4, farmers can use their own hardware at no cost. Only idle capacity goes to the marketplace.
How does the 80/10/10 split work?
When your capacity is rented, 80% of the revenue goes to you as earnings, 10% is used to buy and burn SPORE (reducing supply), and 10% goes to the protocol fund for development.
What are the minimum hardware requirements?
Minimum: 16 cores, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 10 Mbps network. Recommended: 32+ cores, 64GB RAM, 2TB+ SSD, 100+ Mbps network. See the full requirements.
What is a "slice"?
A slice is a portion of your node resources (CPU, RAM, storage) that you offer on the marketplace. You can configure multiple slices from your total capacity and set individual pricing for each.
How do I get early access to testing?
Pre-register through the Pre-Registration page. We will notify registered users when testing access becomes available, prioritizing active v3 farmers.
Will v3 nodes continue to earn?
V3 continues to operate and v3 nodes continue to earn according to the current v3 model. V3 will remain supported.
